Family Always Chooses Love
Discrimination against LGBTI+ people often occurs within their own families, as shown by the data collected annually by the ILGA Portugal Observatory on Discrimination Against LGBTI+ People.
It was this problematic fact that gave rise to the idea of making society aware of the importance of accepting LGBTI+ people within their own families. This intention becomes even more relevant during the Christmas season, a time that can be particularly difficult for the LGBTI+ community without family support.
Synopsis
Cris is a young transgender woman preparing to host her family for Christmas dinner. During the dinner preparations, it is evident that Cris is visibly apprehensive about her parents' potential reaction to her gender identity.
Concept
Ködö chose to develop a video awareness campaign to spread a positive message about acceptance. We began by creating a transgender character and imagining a coming-out scenario. This was the final result.
Making of
This campaign was developed by Ködö for ILGA Portugal as part of the Ködö World Care social responsibility project. The production process also relied on the essential help of several volunteers who appeared, filmed, produced, and provided spaces for the shooting. The campaign is supported by Amplos, A Avó Veio Trabalhar, and Queer Tropical, partner associations of ILGA Portugal.
